Cabbage Rice

Cabbage rice is a very simple to pack for lunch box and people who hate cabbage will like this recipe for sure....
 Cabbage is one for those few vegetables that give nutty flavour and subtle sweetness to the rice making it delicious.Suddenly thought i can make a variety rice and he loved this a lot and wanted me to make frequently for his lunch box too. I simply made with this according to my taste and you make any variation to this recipe.


Ingredients:

Cooked rice - 1 cup
Cabbage - 1 cup (chop into 1/2 inch slices)
Onion - 1/2 medium size (sliced)
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Urad dhal - 1 1/2 tsp
Channa dhal - 1 1/2 tsp
Chilli Powder - 1 tbsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
Garam Masala - 1 tsp
Salt - to taste
Oil - 2 tsp

Method:





  1. Heat oil in a pan and temper mustard seeds, urad dhal and channa dhal.
  2. Add onion and saute until it becomes slightly pink.
  3. Add red chilli powder and turmeric powder and mix well.
  4. Now add the cabbage and essential amount of salt and reduce the flame to medium-low.
  5. Cook with closed lid for 5 minutes by stirring in between.
  6. Add garam masala and cook for 2 more minutes.
  7. Now mix this cabbage with cooked rice and mix well.
