Bittergourd Fry

Bittergourd is a popular vegetable in many asian countries. It is good for diabetes and also for various stomach disorders. As it is too bitter in taste,

not only children even many of us didn't like it. My husband is also not exceptional and he too hesitates to have bitter taste where I like it, so I tried this method. I finally got non-bittery taste without losing any medicinal values.

Ingredients:

Bittergourd               - 1 medium size
Besan / Gram flour  - 2 tbsp
Coriander powder    - 1 tsp
Cumin powder          - 1/4 tsp
Sambar or curry masala powder - 1 tsp
Chilli powder             - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder     - 1/2 tsp
Salt         - to taste
Oil          - to fry

Method:

  1. Cut the bittergourd in to thin round slices.
  2. Add all masala powders to it along with necessary amount of salt.
  3. Leave it for 15 minutes, so that it leaves water.
  4. By that time it gets coated. If needed add 4-5 drops of water.

    5.  Deep fry in medium hot oil till golden brown.
    6.  Drain excess oil by placing it in paper towel.

Now the crispy non- bittery bittergourd is ready to serve.
You can use it as side dish for meals and also can have as snacks.
