Potato / Poori Masal

Potato masala goes hand in hand with Poori's. Even you can use the same masala for making masala dosa.
















Ingredients:



Boiled Potatoes - 4 (roughly smash it in hands)

Onion - 2 medium size(thinly sliced)
Tomato  - 1 (roughly chopped)
Peas  - 1/4 cup
Curry leaves  - 1 string
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Fennel seeds - 1/2 tsp
Ginger   - 1 inch (finely chopped)
Channa dhal  - 1 tbsp
Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
Turmeric Powder- 1/2 tsp
Gram flour   - 1 tbsp (mix in 3 tbsp of water)
Green Chillies  - 3
Salt - to taste


Method:





             Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds. When mustards seeds crackle add fennel seeds and green chillies and fry for a minute.Add channa dhal, ginger and curry leaves saute till dhal is slightly coloured.




            Add onion and saute till soft and add tomato and turmeric powder and asafoetida powder and fry till tomato gets cooked.




            Add peas to it and fry till peas gets half cooked. Now add potato and 1 1/2 cup of water and cook for 5-7 minutes until it becomes gravy consistency.




           Now add gram flour mixture to this and allow for 2-3 boils until becomes thick. Garnish with coriander leaves.





Note:

Using of gram flour is optional.




Poori

Poori is an all time favourite for kids as well as for adults too. It is rarely prepared by me as it is deep fried. Normally when i used to prepare poori immediately my hubby asks for potato masala for it than chenna. 











Ingredients:

Wheat flour        - 3 cups
Rava (Sooji)      - 1 tbsp (optional)
Salt                    - to taste
Water                - 1 1/4 cup
Oil                     - to deep fry

Kneading Dough:





  1.  Add flour, rava and salt in a big bowl.
  2. Add the water little by little and make a tight and smooth dough.
  3. To find the right stage, when you press with finger the impression will be there in the dough.
  4. Leave the dough covered for 20 minutes.
Method:


  1. After 20 minutes take a small piece of dough and roll into small ball.
  2. Press and make slighty flatten and dust very little on both sides with dry flour.
  3. Roll gently with rolling pin until thin.
  4. Heat the oil in heavy bottomed pan and put the rolled poori's into it.
  5. Gently press when it is immersed and remove the spatula. It will puff up immediately.
  6. Turn the other side and cook till you get brown colour.
  7. Remove and drain the excess oil.
Note:

  • While dusting for rolling the puri's dust very lightly else your oil will be filled with flour while makig poori's.
  • Oil should be hot enough to make poori's.
  • You can adjust the water level while kneading dough. 
  • The dough should be tight else it will absorb more oil.

ABC / Miracle Drink

Ingredients:

Lime juice - 1 tbsp (optional)




Method:



  1.   Wash and remove the dirt from the skin and Chop into small pieces.
  2.   Add them to juicer and blend well.
  3.   Add little water as required.
  4.   Transfer to glass and add a tbsp fresh lemon juice.(But i have not used).



1. For best result take this juice in empty stomach in morning and can have other foods after 1 hour.
2. Juice them with their skins on and consume right after making it. Do not store the drink as it lose its properties.
