Malai Muttor


Malai is nothing but cream and muttor means peas. This gravy is prepared by using peas and cream as main ingredients. Peas contains many nutrients and also good for weight loss.
But cream is rich in fat. So when both are combined it becomes a normal food for everyone. The preparation is little time consuming but ends in rich taste. This is the best option for those who don’t like paneer.Peas flaunt twice the protein of most vegetables and hence it is an ideal substitute of protein, iron, vitamin c and insoluble fiber.






Ingredients:




Onion -2
Cashews – 10-12
Green Peas – 1 cup (fresh)
Tomato -2
Fresh cream – ½ cup
Fresh Curd (yogurt) – ½ cup
Brinji leaf – 1
Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
Red chilli powder – 1 tbsp
Kasuri methi – 1 tbsp
Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
Garam masala – ½ tsp
Cumin powder – ½ tsp
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Butter – 1 tsp
Oil -1tsp

Salt – to taste

Method:




  1. Fry onion in oil and grind as paste along with cashews.
  2. In hot pan, add butter. Once it starts to melt fry cumin seeds till it splutter. Fry brinji leaves.
  3. Fry onion- cashew paste till it turns into golden brown. Add all masala powders including methi leaves and fry till oil separates.
  4. Add curd and cook till oil separates.
  5. Add tomato puree and salt and saute till oil floats.
  6. Now add peas and water and cook till oil is separated.
  7. Finally add 1/2 of the cream while turning off the stove.
  8. Remaining cream is added at the time of serving.
Note:
You can serve this gravy with Chappathi or Roti.
The taste varies upon frying time. For good taste fry till oil floats in each stage.
