Thengai Therattipal

Therattipal recipe is made without coconut normally. I learned this recipe from one of my friends who is from Thanjavur. This recipe is famous in Thanjavur district and it involves
lot of efforts to prepare. But i am sure that if anybody tastes it once, then surely they will go for making this recipe regularly. As this recipe is made with coconut and milk, it should be consumed within 3-4 days. But anyhow it wont last for morethan 2 days.












Ingredients:



Coconut - 200gm(1 cup)
Jaggery - 300gm
Cardamom - 3
Moong Dhal - 25 gm
Ghee - 50ml
cashewnuts - 10

Method:

                  Roast moong dhal till golden brown.
                  Grind coconut, moog dhal and cardamom together with milk into fine paste.




                 In thick bottomed vessel, add the ground paste and cook on medium flame for around 20 minutes.
                Once it get little bit thicker, add jaggery to it and wait till it fully melts and absorbed.
                Add ghee little by little for good taste.
                Finally add fried cashews to it.





Note:
If you want to keep this for a week, then instead of milk add water. In such case, add 75 ml of ghee.
