Cabbage is one for those few vegetables that give nutty flavour and subtle sweetness to the rice making it delicious.Suddenly thought i can make a variety rice and he loved this a lot and wanted me to make frequently for his lunch box too. I simply made with this according to my taste and you make any variation to this recipe.
Ingredients:
Cooked rice - 1 cup
Cabbage - 1 cup (chop into 1/2 inch slices)
Onion - 1/2 medium size (sliced)
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Urad dhal - 1 1/2 tsp
Channa dhal - 1 1/2 tsp
Chilli Powder - 1 tbsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
Garam Masala - 1 tsp
Salt - to taste
Oil - 2 tsp
Method:
- Heat oil in a pan and temper mustard seeds, urad dhal and channa dhal.
- Add onion and saute until it becomes slightly pink.
- Add red chilli powder and turmeric powder and mix well.
- Now add the cabbage and essential amount of salt and reduce the flame to medium-low.
- Cook with closed lid for 5 minutes by stirring in between.
- Add garam masala and cook for 2 more minutes.
- Now mix this cabbage with cooked rice and mix well.
